Par-tay

On Friday night we fairly spontaneously had a "small" gathering of some good friends*......I think we ended up with about 144 adults and kids. I know, it sounds crazy. Believe or not, half the invitees declined. But we have had some tough weeks and so many of our friends have been so kind to us. It was a nice way to see so many people: neighbors, MOPS, MAC/Mom's Club, college friends, DC/VA friends. It was a great group and not as overwhelming as it probably sounds. (unless to us it was not, maybe the guests were overwhelmed.) It was so nice to see everyone for a little happy hour time and we truly missed those who were not able to make it. We even got a keg (it had been a while since any of us had been at a party with a keg!) and amazingly (or not) we finished it that night. I guess we will just have to do it again soon and bring in some of very best put of town friends too! Sadly, I did not take any photos so it will have to remain just perfectly great right in our minds. We were very blessed to have the perfect night, despite the rain that blew through half an hour before the party started. It was warm, not humid, sunny with a great breeze. A perfect July night.

*This was the invite to the party:
No matter how long you can stay
On the 3rd of July we want to say
Just how thankful we are to you
For everything you did to get us through.

Come on by for some drinks and fun
Bring the kids and we will let them run
We'll have beer, soda, juice and wine
If you want to bring a snack that would be just fine.

In the event of rain we will have to make another plan
Our house is too small to bring in the whole clan.

Hello from Ireland! So sorry we couldn't be there--I wish we hadn't had to miss it. We were there in spirit, and we look forward to seeing you sometime SOON!!
