We are on day 2 of the intensive swim lessons. We made the leap and decided to get Madelyn in with this "swim whisperer" lady that several of my friends have used. Apparently she is a whiz at teaching kids to swim. It's not a money back guarantee or anything but after her 10 day intensive private lessons she pretty much promises the kids will be able to swim. After just two lessons I am starting to believe it. Miss Pearl is a real gem and a bit of a character. She literally spends all day in the pool at the Embassy Suites and kids just hop in one right after the other. Madelyn adores her and really seems to fully trust her (which is just what Miss Pearl told me would happen.) Though she keeps calling her Miss Carolyn, who was her other swim instructor.
Today Miss Pearl got her to do two things I have never seen her do before: pull Madelyn (who was holding her breathe) under the water to the side of the wall and getting Madelyn to fetch rings and this scuba guy toy from under water. She praises Madelyn a great deal and marvels at what a great listener she is and how obedient she is. (Wish there was more of that at home but I guess it is a good thing if she acts her best with other people!) So it is going well. It's kind of intense though. We have lessons tomorrow and again on Sunday and then three or four days next week. But I am quite impressed by the progress.
It was an eventful morning (with the swim lessons and play at the gym!) that left us tuckered out. We ALL took naps today. Because we did not get up until after 4 p.m. (actually it was almost 5!) we had enjoyed a summertime treat at our local ice cream place. We were not the only ones with that idea. It was a beautiful night and now no one seems very ready for bed. Hmmm.
